Often we find ourselves trying to make a life decision that tugs at our every seam. We wonder 'will it really be okay to do this?' or 'what if I choose the wrong thing?' and allow thoughts like this to rule and reign. Our thoughts gravitate towards the cause and effect, usually imagining the worst case scenario and subtly preparing our souls to endure it. I personally consider my mind analytical and so I tend to imagine creatively unrealistic scenarios until I am exhausted. Sometimes we even make decisions out of fear this way.
Life has a hundred some odd decisions to make each day. But what distinguishes the ones that make us stress out or pull our hair out from the ones we almost autonomously make? I find it's usually some sort of interpersonal decision that affects either another person or our mind's most important person- ourself. From that we need to recognize a sort of subversive lie that sneaks in- that it's all about us.
The real truth is that this life is not about us. The way we live it, as followers of Christ is to pursue His goals along the walk. In fact, I believe that the biggest decision of your life is whether you choose Christ as Lord an Savior or.. not. For some this is an easy choice as their life has been a series of disasters that forces them to look at the glory of God face to face. For others this is a hard choice as they really do not see the need, in their great offense against God.
Whichever one it is- and there are more ways to see it- the decision for Christ comes paramount to all other decisions. Because once you have Christ ruling and reigning over your life, it allows you to make decisions for His glory, not yours. To rely on One who is wholly capable of being all that you need, El Shaddai. To live with and for a God who lavishes love on you and in whom there is always MORE! To hear from the Holy Spirit, counselor, teacher, the one who guides you as a born again child of God.
Decisions, decisions.. Jesus Christ. He's enough to hold your every burden, know your every failure, and still be completely in love with ALL of you.
Godspeed.
