The beauty of the gospel is that Jesus Christ remains. He is still Lord over my life. He is still the perfect sacrifice, in and out of season, law change or law stay. God, you remain, no shadow of turning in You. Your Word does not return void but accomplishes what it was spoken out to do. And accomplish it has, remain it has, over one thousand, two thousand years.
After the grief there always comes the time of hope once again. Nothing will separate us from the love of God. Nothing can topple His lasting testament, crush the gospel, for it was not built by man as to be crushed by man nor devil. God is everlasting. The Gospel always, always, always springs back from that brief, momentary affliction- it is there at every occasion.
The Word preserved by Holy Spirit over immense span of time. The testimony and sacrifice of Jesus, still relevant, endures the time that has passed and will continue to pass. Persecution and suffering restrict Him not, murder and slaughter halt Him not, unbelief and apostasy grieve Him, yet He is not one who gives up. The timeless act of giving up a spotless, unblemished Son draws all near as we see love manifest in its purest way. The humble love given by the Father is a welcome open door to enter His house and to dwell with Him, perfectly loved and representatives unto the earth.
The Lord has withstood worse in many less reputable lands, alleys, war-torn nations, yet still the message of the gospel is a refining fire, a forgiving love, a selfless Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Thus, the enduring hope.
